Budget Commission

The County Auditor, Treasurer, and Prosecutor determine whether tax levies are properly authorized and allocated to local governments and libraries.

The Fairfield County Budget Commission consists of the County Auditor, County Treasurer, and County Prosecutor. This body is responsible for determining whether tax levies are properly authorized and allocated to local governments and libraries.

On February 7, 2022, the Budget Commission unanimously voted to waive the requirement that the taxing authority of a subdivision or other taxing unit adopt a tax budget under section 5705.28 of the Revised Code. The Commission still requires taxing authorities to provide such information as may be needed to perform its duties, including dividing the rates of each tax levy.

The Budget Commission meets the last Monday of every month at 8:30 a.m. in the Real Estate Assessment Office Conference Room, 108 North High Street, Lancaster.
