Any Increase In Property Valuation Does Not Mean A Dollar-For-Dollar Increase In Property Taxes

Anytime a revaluation occurs, it necessitates a review of the tax rates that are used to calculate taxes against. In general, as properties increase in value, the tax rate will be adjusted downward for the area. This adjustment ensures that there is not an overcollection on certain types of levies. The State of Ohio typically reissues tax rates around late December.

Dr. Carri Brown, Fairfield County Auditor, has been appointed to the national editorial board of the Journal of Government Financial Management, a publication of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA). Her term will begin on July 1, 2025, and run through June 30, 2028.

Vendor License Application Fee Increase

With the passage of House Bill 366, the one-time fee for applying for a new vendor’s license will increase to $50. This change is effective April 9, 2025, as announced by the Ohio Department of Taxation.

Fairfield County Awarded Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate Of Achievement For Excellence In Financial Reporting

Fairfield County Auditor, Dr. Carri L. Brown, learned today that the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded Fairfield County with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This award is based on the production of the annual comprehensive financial report for the year ended December 31, 2023. The report has been judged by an independent panel to meet high standards for financial reporting.
