AFTER HOURS

The Fairfield County Dog Warden responds to emergency situations after hours, which include dogs at large, per Ohio Revised Code Section 955 and under the following circumstances:

  • Dog bite(s) to a person, dog still actively at large.
  • Dogs at large and having attacked a person, pet, or livestock.
  • Dog at large on major roadway (50+ speed limit).
  • Sick or injured stray dogs.
  • Assists law enforcement when the dog owner is arrested, deceased, or being transported to a hospital.

The Fairfield Area Humane Society responds to situations involving cruelty, neglect, and abandonment under Ohio Revised Code Section 959. To make an online report with their organization - report cruelty form.


The Fairfield Dog Warden and Fairfield Area Humane Society do not have jurisdiction over barking dogs. Barking dogs fall under city ordinances and local law enforcement would be responsible for enforcing the regulations.
