Civil Division

The work in this division basically includes representing all County elected officials, (Clerk of Courts, Auditor, Commissioners, Coroner, Engineer, Recorder, Sheriff, Treasurer, and Judges), County agencies, boards, departments, the boards and clerks of the thirteen townships in Fairfield County, and county school boards. This representation consists primarily of appearances in civil suits and answering opinion requests regarding legal matters.

The Civil Division also collects delinquent real estate and personal property tax monies for the county on behalf of the Fairfield County Treasurer. If property owners have not made attempt to pay their delinquent real estate taxes, foreclosure proceedings are commenced and the property may be eventually sold at Sheriff's Sale.

Jason Dolin, Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney
Serving Fairfield County since 2007
Jason Dolin has been an assistant prosecuting attorney in Fairfield County since 2007. He was appointed to the position of Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney of the Civil Division in 2012. Jason got his undergraduate degree from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York and was a cum laude graduate of the Syracuse University College of Law. Jason started his legal career as a criminal prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted all levels of criminal conduct including homicides. Since coming to Fairfield County, Jason has represented the civil interests of the County including representing all Fairfield County elected officials, numerous county boards and commissions, and the Fairfield County Townships. In addition to County Child, he oversees the staff of civil prosecutors.

Jeff Porter
Serving Fairfield County since 2012
Jeff Porter joined the office in 2012 as an assistant prosecuting attorney. Jeff attended Muskingum College nka Muskingum University and received his undergraduate degree in 1993. He received his law degree from Capital University in 1996. Jeff has previously served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Columbus and was also an attorney in private practice.  He has experience in various civil matters, including zoning, annexations, tax and regulatory matters.  Jeff has also served as Civil Service Commissioner for the City of Columbus.
