HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION

Real Estate Property Tax Rollback and Homestead Exemptions are forms of property tax relief. Every residential property taxpayer receives the 10% tax rollback. This became law several years ago with the enactment of the state income tax.

The Auditor's office also administers the 2 1/2% Property Tax Reduction Law passed in 1979 for residential and agricultural parcels on which there is a home site occupied by the owner.

In addition, Senior Citizens and the permanently disabled may be eligible for the Homestead Program for the Elderly and Disabled. This program offers a $25,000 reduction in the market value of a home before property taxes are calculated.  You may qualify at any age if you are totally disabled or 65 years of age or older.  To enroll, you may find the forms at our website www.co.fairfield.oh.us/auditor on the left hand menu or you may call the Auditor's Office 687-7024 for assistance.
